My favorite media to work with was the clay because of how messy it was. It was a lot of fun to use because it takes up the entirety of my hands. the clay starts out as a grey blob of awesomeness and then you turn it into a detailed shape of awesomeness and the entire process is just really fun.
The black and white cut out project reflects me as an artist best. Using an exacto knife is very familiar to me because i have used it so often. I use the same technique from this project in stencils that i make for personal use. It is a lot of fun to me because it can get pretty complicated. The stencils are used for spray paint artwork. creativity is something i struggle with and this media helps a lot because i can take a picture and change its appearance by cutting it out.
The cartoon skeleton and the printmaking project show my growth as an artist best. For both pieces i had to use tracing paper. On the cartoon skeleton i messed up because for some reason the concept of tracing paper eluded me. While with the printmaking project I actually used the tracing paper correctly. With the cartoon skeleton my creativity was put to the test because i had to actually come up with something on my own and it turned out okay. with the printmaking i didn't have as much of a hard time coming up with an idea. For both i had to think of and use shapes that were not already set forth for me to use. I did better with the printmaking than i did with the cartoon skeleton.
The landscape painting was my least successful project in this art class. It does not look very good and the values are not very good either. The sky doesn't change in value at all and the grass at the bottom looks pathetic. If i had to change this painting i would have used a lot more value in it and put more detail in the front. Make the sky change in blues and the trees get darker and duller when they get farther back and have actual detail in the trees.
My print project was my most successful art project. The theme for that project was depth. I had to first find a few different pictures of a squirrel and then use them to draw a squirrel of my own. i then used tracing paper to transfer the squirrel onto a piece of linoleum. When that was done i cut out the squirrel using a linoleum cutter. After that i rolled ink onto the piece of linoleum and proceeded to smack it on a piece of paper and that made a print of a squirrel. I think the way i did things worked out pretty well except for the printing itself because i was a bit reckless when doing that. The instructions were very clear and helpful with this project. they definitely were the main reason this project turned out so well.
